It’s natural for our brain to create habits. Any time we take on a new task, it takes extra energy to process doing these habits. The brain does what it can to make and keep habits that we become used to. One important habit that we all naturally have is called Homeostasis. This is basically the balance in our body. As an example, if you go outside without a coat in winter, or wearing a sweater in summer, our body will do everything it can to regulate our temperature and keep us in our habit.
Another example is when you are working to lose weight but are staying right around that 5-10 pound weight variance we all experience. Most often, we don’t create long term habits that will help us lose weight. We lose motivation when we are not seeing results fast enough, which is the point where most of us quit trying to create a new habit. Without breaking old habits, we can’t expect to achieve new results.
Chiropractic addresses the bad habits we have developed through repetitive motions like texting or prolonged sitting to help our bodies break the bad habits like improper posture that cause neck and back pain. Regular chiropractic adjustments create the opportunity for our bodies to begin healing and moving back to where we should be. At Wills Chiropractic, our goal is to help our patients develop healthier habits so they can live the dream.
