You lead a busy life, which has its upsides and downsides. One of the definite downers of balancing work, family, friends, and all the other bits and pieces in between is feeling like you never have enough time for yourself. But you can change all that in 2023. Investing in your health and making time for wellness should be one of your top goals for the new year ahead.

Tips for Making Time for Wellness in 2023

NO IS A COMPLETE SENTENCE

Sometimes, you may feel obligated to do things out of concern for other people’s feelings. And that can be okay—hanging out with friends and people you care about can be great even if your introverted tendencies suggest otherwise.

But it’s just as important to make sure you don’t compromise the time you’ve set aside for yourself to focus on exercise and nutrition. If you plan on going to the gym or eating a healthy meal at home, don’t feel obligated to abandon those plans if someone asks you to go out. Setting boundaries is investing in your health. It’s okay to just say no and take a rain check sometimes, and your friends will understand.

BREAK THOSE BAD HABITS

If you stop and add up all the hours you spend doing things that are not productive or may even be counterproductive, you might be surprised. Sure, staying connected and informed is important sometimes, but if you spend hours scrolling through social media every day, you could be using those precious minutes and practicing better health habits.

Making time for wellness means using it better, and that might mean scrapping your pre-bed screen time for something like reading, yoga, or just having a conversation with your partner. You might even want to perform an audit of your typical schedule. Sure, that sounds like more work, but if you can effectively find hours in each day to help your focus on exercise and nutrition and prioritize self-care, it’s effort well spent.
