Stretching is one of the best and most natural ways to combat and manage pain. It encourages lengthening of the muscles which tend to cause the most issues, while also improving blood flow and relieving those strains that are painful. The benefits of stretching are well known. which is why it is touted in all physical sports and exercises. Stretching exercises are some of the most beneficial and impactful exercises that you can do. They not only work parts of your body that traditional exercises do not reach, but they also help to reduce and remove the lactic acids which cause soreness after workouts.
Stretch Throughout the Day
There are many types of stretches and many types of benefits that will occur as you stretch. In fact, there are so many helpful things that come from the practice, that we suggest doing stretches as much as you can during the day! But there are particular times when the benefits of stretching are more than other times. For instance, if you have a sedentary job, you will want to stretch every two hours—maybe during your breaks and lunch. This will help to get the blood flowing through your body and not only loosen up your body to make you more comfortable, but it will also help you stay healthier.
Stretching Exercises Recommended By Your Rochelle Chiropractor
Not everyone wants to go find a set of stretches to do during the day. It can be hard and take a long time. So here are some standard stretching exercises that you can do during your day. Mix them up and explore with other options for the best results for your body.
Cobra: The next time you are feeling tension in your back, give this one a try. Lay on the floor with your stomach down, place your hands under your shoulders, palms down, and then push off from the floor. Your back will bend backward as your head lifts and the stretch will help to decompress those parts of your back that are scrunched up from sitting.
Triangle: You will need some room for this one. While standing, place one foot out to the side and point your foot forward (leaving the back foot pointing to the side). Then bend at the waist and lower one arm to the ground and lift the other into the air. The result will be a triangle shape with your legs and a straight line with your arms. Try this the next time your lower back is feeling aches and your sides hurt from sitting slanted in your seat.
